On Tuesday 14 March, Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasir bin Saif al Ma’wali, Chairman of the Shura Council, Sultanate of Oman, who was in Japan at the invitation of the House of Representatives of Japan, visited the House with his delegation and met with Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker, Mr. Tatsuo Kawabata, Vice-Speaker, Mr. Tsutomu Sato, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Rules and Administration, Mr. Tsuyoshi Takagi, Ms. Shiori Yamao and Mr. Kiyohiko Toyama, Directors of the Committee, and Mr. Tetsuya Shiokawa, Member of the Committee.
The Speaker began by welcoming the delegation to Japan and said that the Chairman’s visit would help further advance the friendship between the two countries, and that taking this opportunity, he wished to continue to promote exchanges between their parliamentarians. He also expressed his appreciation for the support from Oman after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the resulting tsunami in 2011.
In reply, the Chairman thanked the Speaker for inviting him to Japan, and said that he wished to strengthen the cooperative relationship with Japan in various fields, including parliamentary exchanges, through this visit. In addition, explaining Oman’s efforts for stability in the Arab and Middle-East regions, he said that his country wished to continue to contribute to the stability of these regions based on dialogue and mutual understanding.
They also talked about other subjects including the bilateral investment treaty.
