On Monday 5 June, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, who was in Japan at the invitation of the Japanese Government, visited the House with his delegation and met with Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker, and Mr. Takeo Kawamura, Vice-President of the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentary League of Friendship, at the Official Residence of the Speaker.
The Speaker began by welcoming the delegation to Japan and expressed his gratitude for the welcome he had received when he visited Viet Nam in May this year. He also valued the contribution made by their countries' parliamentary leagues of friendship to the flourishing of the bilateral relationship. In relation to Japanese investment in Viet Nam, he asked for help in navigating in the legal system and implementing proper administrative procedures in Viet Nam. In addition, he expressed his expectation for the further strenghtening of the relationship between their countries, referring to the Japanese National Diet's efforts for the bolstering of its relationships with other countries, such as the enactment of the Technical Intern Traning Act* in the previous Diet session.
In reply, the Prime Minister thanked the Speaker for his welcome and the cooperation which has been offered by the Japanese House of Representatives for the advancement of the bilateral relationship. He also said that he was glad that "the Japan-Viet Nam Extensive Strategic Partnership" had been thriving. He aded that he wished to receive continued support from Japan for the improvement of infrustracture, human resource development and measures against climate change.
They also talked about other subjects including the strengthening of the cooperative relationship between their parliaments in the international arena and the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties that their countries will mark next year.
