On Monday 4 September, Hon. Fidel Espinoza Sandoval, President of the Congressional Chamber of Deputies, Republic of Chile, visited the House with his delegation and met with Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker, Mr. Ryu Shionoya, President of the Japan-Chile Parliamentary Friendship League, and Mr. Akihiro Nishimura, Secretary General of the League.
Speaker Oshima began by welcoming the delegation to Japan, and said that he was glad that Japan and Chile had reached the 120th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties. He said that he hoped that the exchange between their parliamentarians would become vibrant, mentioning that members of the Japan-Chile Parliamentary Friendship League, headed by its President, Mr. Shionoya, would visit Chile as an official delegation of the House in September this year.
In reply, the President thanked Mr. Oshima for his welcome. He said that he hoped that the cooperation between their countries would expand in the fields of not only politics, economy and culture but also scientific technology, expressing his expectation for further advancing the bilateral parliamentary exchange.
They also talked about other subjects including North Korean issues and industries in Chile.
