On Thursday 14 September, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Haj Mulia, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, visited the House with his delegation and met with Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker.
Speaker Oshima began by welcoming Speaker Pandikar whom he was meeting for the first time in two years. He said that he was glad that exchange between their citizens, including their parliamentarians, was more and more vibrant in this year that marked the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Japan and Malaysia.
In reply, the Malaysian Speaker thanked Mr. Oshima for his welcome, and said that he hoped to maintain the friendly relationship with Japan which had continued for 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, referring to Malaysia's Look East policy. They also agreed to more active mutual exchange between their countries.
In addition, they exchanged their views on several international issues, including the response to North Korea which continues ballistic missile launches and nuclear development, and talked about other subjects including Japan's parliamentary system.
