On Wednesday, 10 October, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, who was in Japan to attend the Tenth Mekong-Japan Summit Meeting, visited the House with his delegation and met with Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker.
Speaker Oshima began by welcoming the delegation to Japan and offering his sincere condolences on the demise of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, and Former Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary Do Muoi. He then mentioned that this year marked the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Viet Nam, saying that frequent high-level exchanges in recent years demonstrated the friendly ties between the two countries.
In reply, Prime Minister Phuc, expressing gratitude to Speaker Oshima for his welcome and his words of condolence, stated that he was pleased that the two countries had built strong political trust through frequent visits by dignitaries. Also, speaking on how much Viet Nam emphasized the importance of the Japan-Viet Nam Extensive Strategic Partnership, Prime Minister Phuc expressed hope that the friendly relations between the two countries would continue to develop in the future.
They also talked about other subjects including strengthening the cooperative relationship in the areas of economy, security and exchanges between citizens, and increasing exchanges between the two parliaments.
