On Monday, 29 October, a delegation from the National Assembly of the Republic of Ecuador headed by Mr. Montgomery Sanchez, Member of the National Assembly and also President of the Interparliamentary Friendship and Reciprocal Coordination Group with the Japan Parliament, which was in Japan at the invitation of the House of Representatives of Japan, visited the House and met with Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker.
Speaker Oshima began by welcoming the delegation to Japan. He approved of frequent reciprocal visits by dignitaries in recent years, and stated that he hoped for greater bilateral cooperation in a wider range of areas. He also expressed appreciation for the support from Ecuador after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the resulting tsunami on 11 March 2011.
In reply, Mr. Sanchez, President of the Group, expressing appreciation to Speaker Oshima for his invitation to Japan, said that he would continue making efforts to further develop their bilateral relations.
They also commented on the economy, trade relations, and cooperation from Japan in the areas of information communication technology and measures for natural disaster.
