On Thursday, 13 December, Mr. Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, Prime Minister of Mongolia, visited the House of Representatives with his delegation and met with Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker.
Speaker Oshima, beginning by welcoming the delegation to Japan, expressed appreciation for the support from Mongolia when natural disasters hit Japan in 2018. He also emphasized how important a strategic partnership with Mongolia was for Japan, with the two countries sharing universal values such as democracy and the rule of law. Speaker Oshima stated that he was willing to support increasing the frequency of bilateral parliamentary exchange.
In reply, Prime Minister Khurelsukh, expressing gratitude to Speaker Oshima for his welcome, agreed on the importance of bilateral relations. He showed gratitude again for the support from Japan which Mongolia received in their democratization process, and stated that he would seek to further strengthen their relationship in the areas of the economy and trade as well as to promote parliamentary exchange in which the parliamentarians' friendship leagues of both countries play a central role.
Other subjects in their meeting included the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
