On Thursday, 24 October, a delegation from the National Assembly of the French Republic headed by Ms. Annie Genevard, President of the France-Japan Friendship Group, in Japan at the invitation of the House of Representatives of Japan, visited the House and met with Mr. NUKAGA Fukushiro, Speaker of the House; Mr. KAIEDA Banri, Vice-Speaker; and Mr. AMARI Akira, President of the Japan-France Parliamentary League of Friendship.
Mr. Nukaga began by welcoming the delegation to Japan, the first foreign guests he has received since assuming office as Speaker. He then stated his hope that their visit to Japan would help further parliamentary exchange between the two countries.
Ms. Genevard responded by expressing her appreciation for the invitation, as well as her congratulations on his assuming the office of Speaker. She commented that she feels bilateral exchange has been increasingly active recently in the fields of security, economy and culture.
They also touched on how, as the two countries share common values including freedom and democracy, cooperation was important in maintaining and strengthening the international order, and on energy policies.
