On Monday, 1 June, Dr. MORI Eisuke, Speaker of the House of Representatives, had a video meeting with Dr. Andreas Norlén, Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden.
Speaker Mori began by expressing gratitude for continuing exchange between the two countries, as demonstrated by the visit by Dr. Norlén to Japan in 2024 at the invitation of the House and the goodwill visit by Dr. Mori's predecessor, Mr. NUKAGA Fukushiro, to Sweden last year. Dr. Mori then conveyed his appreciation for the strengthening of the countries' relations in a wide range of areas since the two countries established a strategic partnership.
Dr. Norlén responded by congratulating Dr. Mori on taking office as Speaker. He also stated that he highly values the even closer ties between the parliaments after his visit to Japan and expressed hope for cooperating with Dr. Mori to further parliamentary exchange.
They also discussed security and the international situation.
