The 42nd Japan-EU Interparliamentary Conference

The 42nd Japan-EU Interparliamentary Conference, an official interparliamentary exchange program between the National Diet of Japan and the European Parliament, was held on Wednesday, 28 May and Thursday, 29 May.

Ms. Elżbieta Katarzyna Łukacijewska, Leader of the Delegation from the European Parliament, and other members of the delegation visited Japan and met with Mr. NUKAGA Fukushiro, Speaker of the House, on 28 May. They exchanged views on the need for Japan and the EU to maintain and strengthen the free and open international order based on the rule of law.

On 28 and 29 May, the delegation members exchanged views with Mr. FUNADA Hajime, Leader of the Delegation from the Diet, and other Japanese Diet Members on the political, economic and social situation in Japan and the EU, international political and security issues, and Japan-EU cooperation on common challenges.
