President of the German Bundesrat visits Speaker Mori


On Tuesday, 26 May, Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, President of the Bundesrat of the Federal Republic of Germany, in Japan at the invitation of the House of Councillors, visited the House of Representatives with his delegation and met with Dr. MORI Eisuke, Speaker of the House; Mr. ISHII Keiichi, Vice-Speaker; Mr. YAMAGUCHI Shunichi, Chair of the Standing Committee on Rules and Administration; and Mr. KIUCHI Minoru, Chair of the Japanese-German Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Speaker Mori began by welcoming the delegation to Japan. He then stated that Japan and Germany are special partners which share values and principles, and expressed hope for enhancing the two countries' friendship and their cooperation in a wide range of areas, including the economy and security.

Dr. Bovenschulte responded by offering his appreciation for the reception. He also expressed hope that the delegation's visit to Japan would help the two countries further their cooperation and exchange between their parliaments.

They also exchanged views on cooperation in the area of engineering, as well as regional issues and international situation.
