On Wednesday, 28 September, Mr. Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, President of the Chamber of the Deputies of Romania, visited the House of Representatives with H.E. Dr. Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă, Prime Minister of Romania, and met with Mr. HOSODA Hiroyuki, Speaker of the House.
Speaker Hosoda began by expressing his profound appreciation to Mr. Ciolacu and Dr. Ciucă for visiting Japan to attend the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo. After touching on last year's centennial of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Romania, he welcomed active exchange between parliamentarians of the two countries, with parliamentary leagues of friendship playing a leading role. He also stated his hope for further bilateral relations through cooperation in multiple areas including politics and the economy. Other topics included the situation in Ukraine and energy issues.
