Georgian Chairman visits Speaker Hosoda


On Monday, 7 November, Mr. Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, visited the House of Representatives and met with Mr. HOSODA Hiroyuki, Speaker of the House.

Speaker Hosoda began by welcoming Mr. Papuashvili to Japan. He then touched on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Georgia. Mr. Hosoda expressed his hope for further development of the bilateral relationship by deepening economic ties between the two countries, including having more Japanese companies operating in Georgia, and enhancing cooperation in a wide range of fields, such as politics and culture.

Mr. Papuashvili responded by expressing his gratitude for Japan's consistent support of Georgian sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also expressed his desire for more frequent exchange between the two countries' parliaments, including the parliamentary leagues of friendship.

They also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and energy issues.
