Moldovan President visits Speaker Hosoda


On Friday, 2 December, H.E. Mme. Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova, visited the House of Representatives and met with Mr. HOSODA Hiroyuki, Speaker of the House.

Speaker Hosoda began by welcoming President Sandu, who was visiting Japan to attend the World Assembly for Women (WAW!). He then stated that Japan and Moldova are rapidly deepening their bilateral relationship this year, which marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He also expressed hope for further exchange between the two countries.

President Sandu responded by offering her gratitude for Japan's support since Moldova's independence and expressing hope for the advancement of economic exchange.

They also exchanged views on the high ratio of women parliamentarians in Moldova, economic and energy issues following the situation in Ukraine, and parliamentary exchange between the two countries.
