South Korean Speaker visits Speaker Nukaga
On Tuesday, 26 December, Dr. Kim Jin Pyo, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, visited the House of Representatives with his delegation and met with Mr. NUKAGA Fukushiro, Speaker of the House; Mr. SUGA Yoshihide, Chairman of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Union; and Mr. TAKEDA Ryota, Mr. NAKAGAWA Masaharu, Mr. KASAI Akira and Mr. KOSHIMIZU Keiichi, Members of the Parliamentarians' Union.
Speaker Nukaga began by welcoming the delegation to Japan. He then conveyed his gratitude to Dr. Kim for congratulating him on the assumption of office as Speaker. Mr. Nukaga also touched on deepening cooperation between the two countries, as well as between Japan, South Korea and the United States, even amid the tense international situation. He indicated his hope that the parliaments in Japan and South Korea will work together to enhance ties between the two countries.
Speaker Kim responded by stating that this year, their bilateral relationship has returned to a normal track. He also expressed hope that his meeting with Mr. Nukaga will help advance the relationship between the two countries' parliaments.
They also referred to exchange between the members of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Union and the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union, as well as bilateral cooperation in the economy and security.
