Malaysian Speaker visits Speaker Nukaga


On Tuesday, 4 June, Tan Sri Dato' (Dr.) Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, in Japan at the invitation of the House of Representatives, visited the House with his delegation and met with Mr. NUKAGA Fukushiro, Speaker of the House; Mr. KAIEDA Banri, Vice-Speaker; Mr. YAMAGUCHI Shunichi, Chair of the Standing Committee on Rules and Administration; Mr. NIWA Hideki, Mr. GOTO Yuichi and Mr. KOSHIMIZU Keiichi, Directors of the Committee; and Mr. NAKATSUKA Hiroshi, Mr. MIYAMOTO Toru and Mr. ASANO Satoshi, Members of the Committee.

Speaker Nukaga began by welcoming the delegation to Japan. He then expressed hope that the Malaysian Speaker's visit to Japan and the Japanese and Malaysian leaders' visits to each other's countries last year would help further develop the close ties the two nations have maintained over the years.

The Malaysian Speaker responded by offering his appreciation for the invitation. He also stated that his visit to Japan would be significant in enhancing bilateral parliamentary exchange. He noted that Malaysia will be the chair of ASEAN next year and expressed hope for strengthening relations between Japan and the ASEAN member nations, including Malaysia.

They also exchanged views on cooperation in the areas of climate change as well as energy and food security.
