On Thursday, 18 July, Hon. Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, visited the House of Representatives with his delegation and met with Mr. NUKAGA Fukushiro, Speaker of the House, and Mr. WATANABE Hiromichi and Ms. OBUCHI Yuko, Members of the Japan-Fiji Parliamentary Friendship League.
Speaker Nukaga began by welcoming the delegation to Japan. He then expressed his intention to facilitate parliamentary exchange between Japan and Fiji ahead of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.
Prime Minister Rabuka responded by offering his appreciation for the parliamentary friendship league's contribution to enhancing the bilateral relationship. He also expressed hope for continuing exchange between the two nations in areas such as tourism and sports.
They also discussed cooperation in the field of disaster prevention, the importance of youth exchange, and the high expectations for Fiji athletes competing in the Olympics.
