Uzbek Speaker visits Speaker Nukaga


On Tuesday, 20 May, Mr. Nuriddin Muydinkhonovich Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in Japan at the invitation of the House of Representatives, visited the House with his delegation and met with Mr. NUKAGA Fukushiro, Speaker of the House; Mr. GEMBA Koichiro, Vice-Speaker; Mr. HAMADA Yasukazu, Chair of the Standing Committee on Rules and Administration; Mr. IDE Yosei, Mr. AOYAGI Yoichiro, Mr. NAKATSUKA Hiroshi and Mr. MURAOKA Toshihide, Directors of the Committee; and Mr. YOSHIDA Nobuhiro, Mr. YAMAKAWA Hitoshi and Mr. SHIOKAWA Tetsuya, Members of the Committee.

Speaker Nukaga began by welcoming the delegation to Japan. He expressed hope that Mr. Ismoilov's visit to Japan, the first official visit by an Uzbek Speaker, would help facilitate exchange between the two countries' parliamentarians.

Mr. Ismoilov responded by offering his appreciation for the invitation. He then explained reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed gratitude for Japan's generous support. He also expressed hope that the two nations would strengthen cooperation as strategic partners in a wide range of areas, including politics, the economy, science, technology, education, human resource development and tourism.

They also exchanged views on efforts for nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation and on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
