Speaker Nukaga began by welcoming the delegation to Japan. He then expressed hope that the two nations, as strategic cooperative partners which share fundamental values, would deepen cooperation toward the stability and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region through their favorable bilateral ties.

Mr. Brownlee responded by offering his appreciation for the invitation. He expressed hope for strengthening New Zealand's relationship with Japan, an important ally, in this difficult and uncertain international situation. He also touched on the commonalities the two nations have in efforts to rebuild areas hit by earthquakes.

They also exchanged views on the administration of the House of Representatives, the deliberation of bills, the role of the Standing Committee on Rules and Administration, and efforts to increase young people's interest in politics.
