Speaker Oshima's video meeting with South Korean Speaker

On Tuesday, 22 December, Mr. OSHIMA Tadamori, Speaker of the House of Representatives, had a video teleconference with Speaker Park Byeong-seug of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. This was the first meeting between the two Speakers.

Speaker Oshima expressed his appreciation for Speaker Park's congratulations, conveyed at the beginning of the meeting, on him becoming the longest-serving Speaker. He stated that he was pleased to have a meeting with Speaker Park for the first time and that the two countries are vitally important neighbors to each other with a responsibility to jointly contribute to regional and world peace and prosperity.

Referring to the significant difficulties in the bilateral relationship, Speaker Oshima stated that the issues between the two countries need to be solved.

Speaker Oshima and Speaker Park confirmed that parliamentary interaction is essential, as is widespread exchange between the two countries in culture and sports, and between youth.
