I was deeply distressed to hear of the widespread bushfires on an unprecedented scale that have been ravaging your country, causing enormous suffering to so many of your people through the loss of lives and massive damage to homes, animals and plants.
On behalf of the House of Representatives of Japan, I would like to express our sincere sympathy and condolences for the victims and their families, and I pray that the bushfires will soon end, so the devastated areas may regain their former beauty.
